Dr James Chiu
BDSc Hons (Qld)
James was originally a patient at the practice for almost 20 years before coming a full circle to join the team as a Dentist in 2019. He completed his studies in Brisbane at the University of Queensland in 2015 and worked there in private practice before making the decision to move back to Sydney in order to be closer to his family. James especially enjoys working with kids; with his balloons and friendly demeanor ensuring that his patients leave their appointments with a smile on their faces.
Outside of dentistry, he is a keen jazz saxophonist as featured in the Bite magazine https://www.bitemagazine.com.au/jazz-it-up/
He also loves the beach and scuba diving, travelling around the world to observe many types of marine life in their natural habitats.
Dr Cassandra O'Brien
BDS Hons (Syd)
Dr Cassandra O'Brien joined Burns Bay Dentistry in 2004 after graduating from the University of Sydney with First Class Honours and the University Medal.
Since that time, she has developed a reputation with her patients for her caring and gentle manner as well as her excellent communication skills. Being a mother with young children herself, Cassandra is proud to have helped and cared for so many local families over the years.
Although Cassandra enjoys all aspects of practising general dentistry, she has a keen focus on prevention and strongly supports patient education and inclusion in their dental health. She maintains a commitment to keeping abreast of the latest developments in dental treatment and furthering her knowledge and skills through continuing education.
Dr Kim Kah
BDS (Syd)
Dr Kim Kah graduated in 1986 from The University of Sydney and has worked at Burns Bay Dentistry for over 20 years. A trusted, gentle and friendly dentist , he provides all aspects of general dentistry .
Preventative and restorative dentistry is a philosophy that has underpinned Dr Kah's dedication to focusing on prevention over intervention in all his years of practice, always working towards the best possible outcome for his patients. It led him to further training in implants and orthodontics , to complement his skills in general dentistry.
Dr Kah also enjoys travelling and has voluntarily done mission work as a dentist in the Philippines and Nepal.
Dr Van Hua
BDS (Syd)
Van has been practicing at Burns Bay Dentistry for over 20 years. He completed his studies at the University of Sydney and since then, has undergone further education to develop a passion in implant dentistry.
He has a keen interest in fishing and golf and has also travelled overseas to the Philippines to provide dental care to those in need.
Dr Leander Rathsam
BDS (Syd), FRACDS
Leander has been serving families in the local Lane Cove community for over 30 years. She loves all aspects of general dentistry and has a special interest in restorative dentistry as well as orthodontics.
Before settling into private practice at Burns Bay Dentistry, Leander worked at Westmead Dental Hospital and she was also a clinical demonstrator at the Sydney Dental Hospital for several years.
Natalie Jones
Practice Manager
Natalie is the friendly face of Burns Bay Dentistry. She does her utmost to make sure everything runs smoothly and ensures everyone feels welcome and taken care of. With over 15 years at the practice, she is well known in the local community for treating patients like her own family.
Away from dentistry, Natalie loves to keep fit with long walks and going to the gym. She enjoys going out for dinner and to the movies as well as dancing with girlfriends. Natalie also loves to travel, including multiple trips to do charity work in Vietnam.
Harry (2005-2024)
Sail Fin Catfish
Harry was our resident cat fish and who was an essential part of the team. He enjoyed being hand fed as well as eating zucchini.
We are devastated that he passed away in January 2024 at 19 years old.
